Sustainable Solar Lighting Installed at Hobsonville Point Airfields
Dualcom is proud to have recently completed the supply and installation coordination of 26 LETO solar bollards at the Hobsonville Point Airfields development in partnership with Trident Electrical.
The project involved the installation of custom concrete plinths and the deployment of the bollards across four laneways, helping to provide safe and sustainable pedestrian lighting throughout the area.
Unlike traditional lighting installations that require extensive underground cabling and electrical infrastructure, the LETO solar bollards operate completely independently using integrated solar technology. This significantly reduces both installation complexity and long-term energy consumption while supporting environmentally conscious urban design.
Intelligent and Energy Efficient Lighting
The LETO bollards are fully automated and incorporate microwave sensor technology, allowing them to operate at a dimmed light level during normal conditions and automatically increase brightness when pedestrian movement is detected. This ensures the pathways remain safely illuminated only when additional lighting is required, helping maximize energy efficiency and battery performance.
Dark Sky Approved
An important feature of the LETO bollards is their Dark Sky approval. Dark Sky compliant lighting is specifically designed to minimize unnecessary light spill and reduce light pollution. This helps protect the natural night environment, reduces glare, and improves visibility and comfort for pedestrians while supporting environmentally responsible lighting practices.
A Collaborative Delivery
This project was successfully coordinated between Dualcom and Trident Electrical, combining expertise in smart lighting infrastructure and electrical installation to deliver a practical, sustainable, and visually integrated lighting solution for Hobsonville Point.
We’re pleased to see the completed installation now enhancing the laneways with reliable, energy-efficient lighting that supports both safety and sustainability.
