There is a small notch between the clear lens and aluminum base, using a small flat head screw driver pry it open (see image above). You will not crack or cause any damage by doing this as the lens is a diamond Polycarbonate which is extremely strong.
Each 300mm T5 Fluro tube is rated for 8 Watts (16W combined) + the ballast which typically uses 6W. The power is reduced from 20W to 4.8W saving a massive 15.2W per fixture or 1.3Amps!
